Since 1981 Dr. Porteous' Newport Beach Chiropractic practice has specialized in caring for patients with chronic and difficult conditions.

He is the attending Chiropractor for the Whitaker Wellness Institute, Newport Beach. In addition, he serves on the postgraduate faculty for Palmer Chiropractic Colleges and Cleveland Chiropractic College. Dr, Porteous formally served as Dean of Post-Graduate education for Southern California Chiropractic College. Dr. Porteous Co-founded The Society of Chiropractic Post Graduate Education, a California State Board approved Continuing Education Provider.

Honored by his profession, Dr. Porteous holds fellowships in the Palmer Academy of Chiropractic, Davenport and San Jose. Recognized as Chiropractor of the year 2002 by the International Chiropractic Association of California, Los Angeles, Cleveland Chiropractic College recognized him as Alumnus of the year 2003.

Dr. Porteous has published over on a hundred articles in professional journals, and has made numerous presentations regarding "Patient Centered" healthcare to professional and lay audiences nationwide. His positive, entertaining and informative approach is a winning combination for patients and doctors.

Dr, Porteous is a member of several professional organizations including the California Chiropractic Association and International Chiropractors Association of California, and was elected President of the ICAC in 2003.

Dr. Porteous received his undergraduate studies from California College, Los Angeles and his Doctoral degree with honors from Cleveland Chiropractic College, Los Angeles. He served his Internship at Salvation Army Men's Rehabilitation Center Los Angeles.

He lives with his wife Laurie on their ranch in Temescal Canyon. There he teaches an Equine Chiropractic Workshop to doctors of veterinary medicine and doctors of chiropractic. Dr. Porteous has three grown children Michelle L. Bice, Michael J. Porteous, and Brian James Porteous, Jr., granddaughter Emma Nicole and grandsons Hunter Michael and Hunter James.
